Why Hiring a Painting Contractor Makes Good Sense

When deciding whether or not to hire a painting contractor, there are several things to keep in mind. At the top of the list is the fact that a licensed house painting contractor has two things many homeowners do not; experience and expertise.

Painting and decorating projects require specialized skills. That is one good reason why people pay for the services of a professional painting contractor when it comes to painting the interior or exterior of their home. Time restraints, convenience, safety, and health are among other considerations.

Safety and Health Comes First

Climbing on ladders and painting can be hazardous work; so is working with solvents and inhaling dust. Professional contractors are safety conscious, and experienced in handling these situations. Home owners who opt to do the painting themselves often risk unnecessary injury.

Houses built before 1978 may have been painted with lead-based paint, proven to pose serious health risks when scraped and sanded in preparation for repainting. Dust and paint chips from lead-based paint are a health threat to exposed individuals; working around lead-based paint, therefore, represents another safety hazard.

A licensed, professional contractor painting commercial or residential buildings that have lead-based paint have been trained to take precautions to protect you and your family from these health risks. They are also trained to protect themselves and their employees.

Quality Work Guaranteed

Bear in mind that a reputable house painting contractor in the Coral Springs, Florida area will prepare surfaces properly for painting. Homeowners may skimp on this step. Poorly prepared surfaces affect the appearance and quality of the new paint. To properly prepare surfaces for repainting is time consuming, but yields great end results, and increases durability of newly painted surfaces.

A qualified painting contractor is also familiar with the different types of paints, when to use what product, and the best way to apply each.

Other thoughts on painting the exterior your house

One thing to take into consideration is how much additional prep work will be involved. Do you have any rotted siding, window sills, hand railing, or window and door trim? Make sure you take this opportunity to correct this issue prior to painting. Often times paint companies have experience in this field and can provide a quote that includes replacing your siding and trim. However, if your project involves replacing a significant amount of siding or trim you may want to call a professional building contractor or experienced handyman.

You should decide if you want to take this opportunity to change the color of your house and trim. Updating the color can add new spice to your house. When determining what colors to use make sure that they fit into your neighborhood as well as colors that already exist. For instance you already have a roof, plants, landscaping, a foundation, and a driveway present. These all have colors that need to be taken into consideration when trying to compliment your house to its surroundings. You may need to get approval from your town/city or homeowners association on a color change, to maintain the aesthetics of your community. Also note that if you are changing your houses color your price for painting will go up. You may not be able to get away with just 1 or 2 coats to cover your old color. Each coat will cost more money.

Another important decision to make is if you want your house hand brushed or sprayed. If you leave it to the paint contractor to decide you will most likely have it sprayed because it is faster and easier. However, if you have an older house, wood siding, or it has been a while since your last painting you may want to consider asking for a quote that includes painting by hand. The hand brushing or rolling application can provide a thicker coat and gets the paint deeper into the wood and crevasses, ensuring that you have protection from water penetration. Keep in mind that hand brushing is more time consuming and will cost more money.

Our standard exterior painting process

Here are the steps we take to give you the finest finish possible, and to make sure it lasts in the brutal South Florida climate:

First, we pressure clean the entire exterior of your home to remove loose paint.

Next, we hand scrape any areas that look like they may peel or come loose, and we replace any rotted trim wood we find.

We caulk all the seams around windows, doors, fascia, and anywhere two distinct materials meet, using a high quality acrylic adhesive caulk, to ensure a solid, watertight joint.

After covering and taping off the areas not to be painted, we spray/roll/brush on a high-quality sealing/bonding primer to ensure the absolute best adhesion of the paint. This step is what sets us apart from all the others.

Two coats of highest quality exterior paint are applied, using a spray gun, roller or brush, to both broad surfaces and all trim surfaces.

You also have the option of having us apply an exterior sealer for added durability.

We are proud of the fact that almost no other painting contractor in the South Florida area takes the time and effort we do to make your house beautiful, and we certainly don't want you to call us in a couple of years to complain about the lousy job we did. If there are any issues during our warranty period, rest assured we will respond promptly and courteously, and remedy the situation in the shortest period possible.

Once the exterior is looking its finest, it is time to beautify indoors, starting with removing that popcorn ceiling!
